the dress came!
I’m having a lot of luck with eBay stuff arriving this week! My floral print dress arrived today. It looked huge when I took it out of the package, but a belt fixed it all up and I LOVE it.

It’s incredibly lightweight. This is going to get a lot of wear! If it ever stops raining…
bad day
I think my mood and my life are affected a little too much by the weather. On the long weekend, when it was gorgeous out, everything was completely awesome, but now with my return to school and the weather getting bleary everything’s getting pretty blah. I won’t bore you, but I had an awful day! One of my unfortunate events was losing a ring that was really important to me, that my grandpa had given my mother. I always got compliments on it and it was really special, so I really hope it turns up somewhere but that’s not looking likely. Oh well, at least I was miserable and cute? (I love you, Joe Fresh Style dress that was perfect for the weather.)

Necklaces: Thrifted
Belt: Thrifted
Dress: Joe Fresh Style
Tights: UO
Shoes: Greenwich Village from the Shoe Company
Oh wait…one good thing was greeting me when I got home! :)

New bag that I’d been waiting for!! I love it. It’s in great condition, just worn enough to feel loved but not so worn that it’s going to fall apart at any moment. :D You’re going to be seeing this a lot.
the dress!
I found an adorable vintage dress on eBay for the wedding, and I won it! Downside? I owe my mom $70 I don’t yet have. (oops.) Upside….

It’s beautiful! It’s going to be a bit shorter on me as well, I think, because of my height. None of my stuff from eBay has arrived yet, but when it does I’m going to be in heaven when it comes to dressing for warm weather.
yay for ebay
No outfit post because I’m sick again today, but at least I won a really cute vintage dress on eBay!! I’d been stalking it for like a week and luckily the price didn’t get scarily high. And the shipping is reasonable, for once, to Canada!

I loooove it, and for once, my boyfriend actually approves! This is going to be my summer dress. :) And it will match my eBayed bag too!

I went shopping with my friend Ellena today, and we found a ton of awesome stuff at Value Village and this sweet little vintage place close by called the Cat’s Eye. (If you’re in Calgary and haven’t been there already, I think you really need to go!) I’ll start off with the stuff from VV:

COWBOY BOOTS! These are actually pretty comfy, although my mom does not believe me and declares that all cowboy boots are uncomfortable. The men’s section is way better for interesting shoes, although I did find these cute booties in the women’s:

I wish there were more details in this pair, but they’re comfy too and I’ve been looking for some for a while. And the bottoms look almost new! $5.99 for these.

Flower print dress! FINALLY! This one’s going to be shortened, and it’s really comfy and stretchy and so perfect for summer. I’ll post a better picture of the print when I wear it, which will probably be Monday if I have time to shorten it tomorrow.
Here’s the stuff I got at Cat’s Eye, all skirts.

They were having a $10 bag sale, so me and my friend shared a bag and each paid $5 for 3 items. The first and last skirt are going to get shortened, and the middle one is a tiny bit big at the waist so I’ll have to pin it and look like a dork or something. The first one has buttons going all down the front which I love, and the last one is really really fun to wear. I think I’m almost set for summer!
FLORAL PRIIIINNTTT!!
Lately I have been having a HUGE dress craving. (For probably the first time in my life. I wasn’t much of a dressy kid.) And the ones that have been catching my eye are the slightly grandma-esque ones that everyone else seems to be wonderful at finding in thrift shops, whereas I never seem to find the ones that could be cute when paired with the right accessories. Something along the lines of this would be absolutely perfect:
I know you guys must get sick of hearing this…but…I NEED A JOB! And the help of my best friends, the thrift faeries.

And boy was it ever successful! Today was a gross, boring day off of school so my mom decided to cheer me up by taking me to one of my favourite thrift stores, the W.I.N. shop. It stands for Women In Need, so when I buy stuff there I know it goes to a good cause, and we donate a lot there too. If you live in Calgary be sure to check it out, because I have found some of my favourite stuff ever there! Anyways, this is what I got today:

A CAPE!! It’s amazing, believe me. It moves so nicely and is warm and lovely. The colours are great too. Probably gonna have to save it for warmer weather, though, because I can’t really think of a way to wear a coat over it comfortably :P
and… get ready for it….

The most amazing coat of all time. I saw this and nearly had a heart attack! The label on the inside is ancient and yellowed (it says ’styled by Morsam’, if you were wondering, although I have no idea what that brand is..a little googling seems to be in order?!) and when I wear it I feel like a super-glamorous 50’s movie star. I also found this wonderful black beret that looks great with it. And it has the coolest label ever on the inside!

Today turned out to be not so bad after all!

Me and my lovely mother went to a couple of our favourite thrift stores today. I found a ton of stuff:

These bags! The red and white one was so odd that I had to buy it. My mom thinks it’s made out of old bleach bottles. I think I’ll put magazines in it or something as it’s not very practical to carry around. The blue Yamaha one has a name on the bottom, which is pretty cool too. And they were all $1. :)

As soon as I saw this top, I knew I would end up buying it. I have too many shiny items of clothing as it is, but it would look so good belted at the waist… and for $8!

This is another top that I knew would look good belted. I’m in love with the pattern. $5 I think?

SCARVES! The white one has the most amazing texture to it, almost like a ruffled chip, and these two look great together. $1 each.

Belts and suspenders and sweatervests, oh my!
I have a thing for belts. I probably have around 25, and I usually buy at least one when I go to a thrift store. The brown one has the coolest buckle ever. And I’ve been looking for suspenders and a sweatervest forever! Everything was $3 each.
Closeup of the buckle:

A successful day, I think!
what i am wearing tomorrow!
Ooh boy, this outfit is really quite a mashup. I have to plan my outfits the night before, as I’m not exactly a morning person, and I liked this one so much I decided to make my brother photograph me now. :D

Long vest: Another find from my mom’s closet!
Tank top: My friend’s
Necklace: Secondhand
Skirt: My friend’s grandmothers old one
Leggings: Actually MEC long underwear!
Socks: My boyfriend’s :)
Shoes: My grandma’s
MEC long underwear?! Hey, it’s getting cold out, and these are just like leggings…but WAY warmer and less transparent. Win-win! I like this outfit because it’s practical with a coat over top of it, and everything I’m wearing has an interesting story behind it. It makes me feel more interesting myself! It also seems very 80’s to me, what with the socks and all.
