Well, my mono relapse is (hopefully) over, and I’m finally back at school! Yay….TONS AND TONS AND TONS OF HOMEWORK! RIGHT BEFORE FINALS! OH MY GOD KILL ME!

Scarf: Target
Belt: Thrifted
Dress: Vintage (eBay)
Shoes: Thrifted

I was also wearing this with a grey cardigan, but it got WAY too hot out for that or the scarf when I was walking home so I left the cardigan in my gym locker.

ALSO, I thought you guys might want to enter the Favourite Spring Dress contest, if you haven’t yet! The lovely Brenda alerted me to it, but sadly I can’t enter it as I’m not a resident of the USA. :( Which totally sucks, because the prize is something I’d very gladly accept! Well, my loss is your gain so if you live in the states… ENTER!! :D

I thought some of you guys might find this interesting! Although that might just be my infatuation with all things New York talking…

Sorry about my decidedly fashion-less past few days. I’m still sick (my mom thinks it might be the mono coming to bite me in the ass again) and then few times I have left the house I forgot to take outfit photos. :( I did go see Rent though, which was sooooo cool and just makes me wish I could see it with the original cast in NYC even more. Anyways, I’ll try and get myself into a more bloggy state of mind later and do some posts that are actually interesting! Don’t give up hope on my teensy little blog! Which reminds me, is there anyone else that wants to exchange links?

I’m having a lot of luck with eBay stuff arriving this week! My floral print dress arrived today. It looked huge when I took it out of the package, but a belt fixed it all up and I LOVE it.

It’s incredibly lightweight. This is going to get a lot of wear! If it ever stops raining…

gearing up

After supper, me and my brother went with my dad to Mountain Equipment Co-op to get ourselves new bike helmets. That’s right, remember this post? The craving is still there! Unfortunately, I also still have to wear a helmet or else I’ll get fined (and with my luck, hit by a semi. If anyone needs a helmet, it’s me!!!). Luckily I found one that I really like!

At first, I didn’t like the visor, but it’s really growing on me and it’s practical. The pink detail on it is cute! I can always switch out the lining for one without a visor attached, too. The best thing about this helmet is that since it’s multi-sport, it doesn’t scream “CYCLING NERD!” like my dad’s does. (No offense, dad. He’s a proud cycling nerd!) I also got some gloves, just because I tend to only fall off my bike and onto the leftover gravel from winter when I’m NOT wearing them. And I think they’re kinda cute in a hobo-ish way…don’t tell!

But trust me, this is the extent of my cycling gear. I’m going Copenhagen style – for me, biking is simply going to be an awesome and sustainable form of transportation, not an extreme sport (most days). I want to prove to the people of this city that you don’t have to be in head-to-toe spandex and low drag sunglasses to use a bike to get around! Of course, that would be a lot easier if I had a more stylish bike! My absolute dream bike would have to be the Velorbis Victoria Classic. It’s just SO. FREAKING. GOODLOOKING. The details are amazing.

Marvel in it’s glory.

Of course, this wonderful, amazing, beautiful bike is £569, which is… *sob*… $1,110 Canadian dollars. PLUS shipping, because nobody near my city carries them. Goodbye, love! However, there is an alternative. It might not have strands of leather wrapped around the handles, and it might not be quite as perfect…but it’s also pretty dang goodlooking, and WAY more in my budget. Behold the Electra Women’s Amsterdam Classic 3 speed!

It also comes in white and black, and I think I like white the best (especially with the contrast of the seat, handles, and tires). This one costs $549.99, an amount that I could actually save up to. And I’ll still have my mountain bike for when I want to go out to the mountains and get dirty!

So, in conclusion… dedicate your 11:11 wish to me getting the job I want for the summer! :P

bad day

I think my mood and my life are affected a little too much by the weather. On the long weekend, when it was gorgeous out, everything was completely awesome, but now with my return to school and the weather getting bleary everything’s getting pretty blah. I won’t bore you, but I had an awful day! One of my unfortunate events was losing a ring that was really important to me, that my grandpa had given my mother. I always got compliments on it and it was really special, so I really hope it turns up somewhere but that’s not looking likely. Oh well, at least I was miserable and cute? (I love you, Joe Fresh Style dress that was perfect for the weather.)

Necklaces: Thrifted
Belt: Thrifted
Dress: Joe Fresh Style
Tights: UO
Shoes: Greenwich Village from the Shoe Company

Oh wait…one good thing was greeting me when I got home! :)

New bag that I’d been waiting for!! I love it. It’s in great condition, just worn enough to feel loved but not so worn that it’s going to fall apart at any moment. :D You’re going to be seeing this a lot.

out with my lovely mother

So today, the last day of my glorious long weekend (happy Victoria day, fellow Canadians!), was spent shopping with my mother and little brother. The first stop was the shoe company, where my very picky brother needed to buy some runners. As far as he was concerned, a 9.5 was way too tight whereas his foot was falling out of a 10. However, after I found one of those foot-sizer thingies and pointed out the maybe 2.5mm difference in sizes he smartened up. :P

Not the most exciting outfit, but I had to wear something easy to put on and take off because after the hell that is The Shoe Company we went to Superstore for the Joe Fresh Style sale!!!

Scarf: Thrifted
Sweater: UO
Shirt: Mom’s
Jeans: Dish
Shoes: Thrifted
Bag: Vintage

And now…my haul! I feel a bit bad since I’ve been trying to shift my purchases to mostly vintage or thrifted, and it’s only been working out semi-well. But I might be getting a job soon, so I did need to get some dressier stuff that’s light enough for summer…good excuse? :D

Cute, sorta ruffly top. The sleeves are puffy when it’s on, and it’s SO COMFY! I’ll probably wear this a lot tucked into skirts.

Striped dress! If my other dresses EVER arrive from eBay, I’m gonna be set for all summer. I think this one is a good base for building on, but not too boring on it’s own in case I get lazy (which I probably will. C’mon, it’s summer break!)

Super basic tee with a little bit of a gather in the front. I love clothes that can be dressed up or down for work, and this + grey skirt and nice shoes would be perfect. I sure hope I get this job or all my ideas for work outfits are going to be forgotten forever! XD

Super-sheer blouse. I love this. There’s ribbon along the neck to tie in a bow, and it’s so light that I am going to be able to wear it over a tank and not die of heat stroke. The buttons are a little sketchy, though, so I’m going to have to watch out for accidentally ripping them off like I always do!

Shorts! I think the huge elastic waistband on these is what draws me to them, and they’re super comfy too. I think this with the red patterned blouse would look pretty slouchy and causal for summer. The pockets on this are great, too.

Last but not least, the spotted-at-last-moment knit dress! Definitely not going to be wearing this on the hottest days, because it’s pretty warm, but it’s perfect for the overcast weather we’re having today. My mom saw it hanging alone on the sale rack, and insisted that I get it! She’s pretty cool. :P The stripes are actually navy, although they look pretty black in the picture.

All in all, I liked the Joe Fresh collection about as much as I thought I would. There’s a TON more stuff in the store then on the site, but it tends to fit kinda oddly and I came out of the changeroom with a lot less stuff then I went in with. Which reminds me…three changerooms for a ton of shoppers? Not so great! Everyone was trying on a lot of items at once, so the wait was pretty long, but it was worth it. I do wish that some of the cream/white dresses had fit me better, because I still want to hunt one down for spring. I had pretty good luck, though, especially since dresses can fit me incredibly oddly because of my long body.

Although I have to admit…still itching to go to Target this summer when we’re down in the states! It’s pretty hard to beat their Go collections (ROGAN. I WANT YOU!!!) but Joe is trying pretty hard!
