I’m sure you’ve seen it. At least three of the blogs that I love and read regularly have posted the new Prada video, and honestly, I can’t believe that anyone’s falling for it. It’s almost scary to me how they create it under the premise of art, and make it very current and fashionable (they are Prada, after all) and people actually fall for it! Of course, the video is beautiful. But if something is created for the sole purpose of selling me something that I do not need, especially when it’s a brand that charges extreme prices, I just cannot look at it and appreciate it as an art form. Is it REALLY just me and my hate of brand label culture, or does anyone else notice how fucked up it seems that the ultimate goal in this character’s life seems to be to aquire more Prada clothing? When she’s spinning around at the end, absolute joy overwhelming her because of her beautiful new bag and dress, it kinda freaks me out. There are so many horrible things happening in the world right now, but nothing matters when you’ve got a three bajillion dollar designer bag magically, for free, from some mythical creature. Never mind about where that bag was made, or by who, or the chemicals and dyes and where they came from (and went after they were used). And of course, she’s skinny, perfect, and white. But you know, I’m probably over-reacting…it just got to me for some reason. Our culture dumbfounds me sometimes. If you haven’t seen it, here’s the video so you can judge for yourself.

What do you think? Am I being one of those bitchy, annoying hippies or do I have a point?
