It was so beautiful outside today and I totally should have worn a skirt or shorts like the rest of my school, but the one night I forget to check the weather is of course the night before the nice day! Luckily tomorrow will be warm too.

PS. I totally look like my mom in this picture. hahaha! I am such a dork…

Sweater: My mom’s (maybe that’s why?)
Shirt: AA
Jeans: Shank
Shoes: Thrifted

And lookie here! My awesome best friend found a trunk of weird old clothes in her basement and obviously thought of me. Here’s what she gave me:

Such a pretty skirt! I am going to wear this tomorrow. It’s a bit see-through though so hopefully I can find some non-brightly coloured underwear…

This is so old! Like, before the wearing random company’s logo’s was cool old. I like it a lot but it probably won’t get much wear until winter!

Aaaannndd…drumroll please…

It’s brightly patterned. It’s frayed at the bottom. It’s got pads in the shoulders. And it’s MINE! If I ever get the nerve up to wear this, you will most certainly hear about it!

the dress, again!

I love this dress so much! And I liked this outfit, too. It’s surprisingly comfy!

Dress: Thrifted, hemmed

Leggings: Jacob
Boots: Thrifted

A little bit warmer out today, at least…

…But if I get home late it’s better then nothing! I liked this outfit, it was nice and casual. I didn’t want to go too complicated because today was the first day of gym and changing for it stresses me out if I’m wearing a million little pieces of clothing!

Scarf: Thrifted
Shirt: Thrifted
Jeans: Dish
Shoes: Blackspot sneakers

I’m going to Mode tomorrow for updated pictures, so it’ll probably be another boring outfit ’cause I’ll have to change into a swimsuit there.

off to war!

…well, nah, just high school, but some days what’s the difference?!

Necklace: Gift from amazing boyfriend
Shirt: H&M
Belt: Thrifted
Jeans: H&M
Socks: My mom’s
Shoes: Doc Marten

This is a change from yesterday’s outfit for sure! These boots really need to be broken in, but they were definitely comfier by the end of the day already. I wasn’t sure if this was too manly when I was trying it on last night (yes, I am a loser) but then I pictured it with the lipstick and I knew it would be perfect.

PS. I guess that this post was in my brain!

my favourite inspiration, joni

Joni Mitchell inspires me in countless ways. Her music is incredible, and I was so proud when I learned how to play one of my favorite songs of hers (Chelsea Morning). The style that she plays varies album to album, but there is always a strong thread through her work that makes it so completely her own. She’s an activist, an artist, and Canadian, all like me! When she started out in the industry, it was even harder for women then it is now, and I really respect her for making such a huge name for herself. My love for her was inherited from my mom, who has listened to her since forever. Recently I started looking up pictures of her, and she is incredibly beautiful. Her style is effortless and bohemian, and she’s with her guitar in a lot of pictures. And the hair!

I like her jacket in this one, and the snow/rural road behind her. GO CANADA!

She suits the place she is in so well!

What a great dress. And love the bare feet.

I think the above has got to be my favourite…the belt and the necklaces and the sleeves are just PERFECT. And so is the look on her face!

Same dress as a couple pictures ago, and the guitar looks great with it. Her hair is so beautiful! I’m totally growing mine out to look like this.

Beret! She’s still got a subtle style even as she grows older.

The clothes that she wore/wears suit her very nicely, and you can tell she’s comfortable in them. Sigh. I want to be a guitar goddess! Although I think I’ll need a little more then 2 years of practicing to be as good as Joni is.

…But sadly, there was snow on the ground! Ah well, sneakers are way comfier anyways.

Ummm, this picture makes my feet look really big by the way. Hahaha.

Scarf: Old fabric
T-shirt: Target
Jeans: H&M
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Thrifted

This was a nice outfit for going exploring downtown with my boyfriend. I’m glad I wore sneakers because we covered a lot of ground!

I love this outfit. I’m getting more comfortable and less self-concious while wearing skirts lately, which is awesome because I’ve only really just started wearing them. What can I say, I used to be a tomboy! It’s hard to overcome the feeling of being terribly overdressed for something as simple as school, but I think I’m starting to come around. Sorry for the terribly exposed picture, it was the one that showed off the colours of the outfit the best…

Shirt: Target
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: DIY
Tights: My mom’s
Shoes: My grandma’s Ked knockoffs

Oh man, I love the skirt that I made. I got tons of compliments on it! :D
